National culture fund established in Moldova

Chisinau, 1 February, 2024 - The national culture fund has been established in Moldova, which represents a new mechanism of financial support of the cultural and editorial programmes and projects. The lawmakers voted a draft law to this effect today.

Thus, programmes on the support of projects of non-commercial organizations in the culture field, of the editorial activity and of literary translation, of cultural magazines, of the arts sector, education through art, studies and analyses, local programmes on cultural development, programmes on artistic and cultural mobility will be financed through the national culture fund.

The fund will be managed by the National Centre of Education through Art – an institution subordinated to the Culture Ministry. The projects due to benefit from financing will be selected based on contests. The institution of implementation will annually publish, on its official webpage, the list of cultural and editorial projects eligible for financing and the report on the financial means of which the fund is made up.
