Social benefits for children with disabilities to be provided automatically in Moldova

15.12.2023 Ședința plenară a Parlamentului Republicii Moldova

Chisinau, 15 December, 2023 - The social benefits for children with disabilities will be provided automatically, without the need to submit an application beforehand. This mechanism will be also in the case of social benefits provided to families with children. The parliament has voted a draft law which stipulates this.

Thus, the benefits will be established automatically by the National Social Insurances House (CNAS), based on information available in the national information systems. The compulsoriness of submitting the application and the confirmatory documents for enjoying these social benefits will be excluded.

Nevertheless, if the child is represented by another person but his/her mother, it will be necessary that the person who represents him/her (father, tutor, trustee) submits the application. The same facilities will be valid also for providing the one-off childbirth allowance and allowance for bringing up the child.

According to statistics data, in 2024, the following people will benefit from these facilities: 33,115 mothers, who will receive one-off child-birth allowance, as well as 114,346 children, who will benefit from monthly allowances till the age of 2 or 3 years. At the same time, the process of getting the right to social benefits for about 2,300 children with disabilities will be facilitated.
